Canford’s annual Careers Convention took place on Friday, bringing together an impressive cohort of over 70 volunteers, including Old Canfordians, parents, and members of the wider community. Representing numerous industries, these professionals provided invaluable insights into the ever-evolving world of work to our Lower Sixth pupils.
A key focus of the event was to showcase a diverse range of career paths, with volunteers spanning different levels of experience and achievements to accurately reflect today’s workforce. The day commenced with a welcome and registration in the new Sixth Form Hub followed by an inspiring keynote session featuring Old Canfordians Pippa Howarth B12, Mary Davenport B12, and Olivia Bracken B12. The trio, who once shared life at Beaufort House during their school years, demonstrated how their journeys post Canford have taken unique and varied directions.
The convention included a networking lunch, panels sessions, and the opportunity for pupils to speak one on one with volunteers, providing a well rounded experience that allowed them to explore various career options. Feedback has praised the pupils' enthusiasm and engagement and many pupils commented on how impactful the experience was for them.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all our volunteers for dedicating their time and expertise. Their willingness to share experiences and offer guidance made a lasting impact on our pupils. Finally, we extend our gratitude to our event sponsor, Moore Barlow Lawyers for supporting this event. We look forward to continuing to inspire and equip our pupils with the knowledge and connections they need to thrive in their future careers.
