Our Community

"Everyone who joins Canford becomes a member of our vibrant, inclusive community. Whether you are a prospective, current or former parent, Old Canfordian, past or present member of staff or a friend of the school, we all share a common bond in the continued success of Canford."

We warmly welcome you to get involved in life here, whether that be volunteering as part of the work of the Friends groups, supporting our Foundation or coming along to any of our community events.

Community Groups

Friends of Canford

The Friends of Canford (FCS) has both a social and community fundraising function. Events are held throughout the year, including tours of the historic buildings and grounds, lectures and lunches, and sporting days. FCS encourages the advancement of education at Canford by supporting pupils and developing links with the community through projects, social events, and other fundraising activities.

Community projects currently being supported include: High Mead Farm, Bourne Academy and City Reach.

If you are interested in joining Friends of Canford please email our Development team, the FCS welcome new volunteers.

Friends of Canford Music

Supporting music at Canford by providing an enjoyable social context to raise the profile of music at Canford.

The Friends of Canford Music (FCM) was formed in 2013 with the aim of supporting music at Canford. We are a volunteer group of parents, OCs and staff who work alongside the music department to provide an enjoyable social context for audiences at music concerts, to promote and publicise musical events at Canford, and to raise the profile of music at Canford.

Registered Friends receive a termly newsletter, advance notice of concert bookings and occasional special events just for Friends. Membership is free and open to anyone interested in music at Canford.

Friends of Canford Rowing

The Friends of Canford Rowing exists to create that home atmosphere wherever the rowing happens to be. We are the roar from the riverbank! Encouraging rowing at Canford by providing information, support and a social context for parents and pupils.

Run mainly by parents, OCs and all those with an interest in rowing are welcome to join us at our rowing events. If you love rowing, get involved with the Friends of Canford Rowing (FCR). Unlike other Canford sports, rowers hardly ever have home matches. Most weekends during the racing season involve trips to the Tideway in London, Dorney Lake or other rowing venues around the country.

Every weekend during racing season, the FCR turn up with a gazebo or marquee, hot food, flapjacks and brownies, and a huge amount of enthusiasm. Rowing reports are sent out afterwards so that parents unable to attend are kept informed.
