Old Canfordian Eve Hewett D21 is preparing for an extraordinary feat this summer as she represents the University of Oxford in the 2025 Varsity Channel Relay, a prestigious open-water race against Cambridge across the English Channel.
This bi-annual event, held since 1988, is a celebrated fixture in the Varsity sporting calendar. A team of six swimmers from each university will take turns swimming for one hour at a time, racing from Dover to Calais in an epic test of endurance, teamwork, and determination. The swim is scheduled to take place during the week of 11th–17th July 2025, depending on weather and sea conditions.
Eve, now in her final year at Oxford, is one of just six students selected for the Oxford team. Beyond the athletic challenge, the relay also raises awareness and funds for the Ocean Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to protecting and restoring vital ocean habitats. Supporting this cause is a meaningful way for the team to give back to the very waters they will be braving.
It's fantastic to see Eve taking on this iconic challenge and wish her and her teammates the very best as they prepare to swim from shore to shore.
Support the team and follow their journey here.
