Old Canfordians |
We are delighted to celebrate the recent sporting success of two outstanding Old Canfordians, Eddie Jack L24 and Archie van der Flier F20, who continue to make waves in their respective disciplines. Eddie Jack, a talented all-rounder, has been selected for the England Lions squad to face India A in two four-day matches this summer. Eddie made a strong impression in a recent fixture for a youthful County Select XI against Zimbabwe, claiming five wickets including key dismissals of international players Craig Ervine and Sean Williams. His continued progression is a testament to his dedication and promise in the professional cricketing world.
On the rugby pitch, Archie van der Flier has earned a well-deserved promotion to the Leicester Tigers’ Senior Squad ahead of the 2025 - 26 season. A powerful prop, Archie made his senior debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Bedford Blues in October 2023 and has since made four appearances for the club. Having joined the Tigers at Senior Academy level, his elevation to the top squad reflects the hard work and consistency he has shown in training and on the field. It’s an exciting milestone in what promises to be a flourishing rugby career.
Both Eddie and Archie have already achieved notable success at this early stage of their sporting journeys, and we are incredibly proud to see their names making headlines. We look forward to watching their continued development and will be cheering them on in the next chapters of their professional careers.
