OC Football - Season Update

Unbeaten and unstoppable, the OCs have hit their stride in their third season - strong performances, growing numbers, and a thriving club both on and off the pitch.

Max Johnson C17 writes...

"In the wake of a last-minute promotion, the OCs began their third season brimming with excitement and anticipation. After the long four-month summer break, there were a few cobwebs amongst the ranks, but the OCs brushed those aside and managed a steady start, drawing the opening two games. The season kickstarted in Gameweek 3, when the gruelling journey to Brentwood could not stop the mighty OCs from returning home with a convincing 5-1 victory. That form has continued ever since, with three wins and one draw to follow, leaving the OCs unbeaten after seven games and four points clear at the top of the league. (W4-D3-L0)

Central to this early success has been the unwavering support of the club’s veterans, now embarking on their third season, along with the introduction of many new faces, both young and old(er). Testament to this was Hugo Woods from the class of 2025, holding down the midfield alongside Chris Haining, in the most recent drubbing of Old Johnians II's. The influx of 2020 leavers into London has also played a critical role, enabling the OCFC to field a strong 14 week in, week out.

The two-year anniversary of this great club was celebrated by the inaugural Friends of the Club day. Fittingly, the OCs marked the day with a commanding 3-0 victory on home turf against title rivals, Old Amplefordians, with parents and non-playing OCs lining the touchline.

With the winter months approaching, there is some light in the middle of the tunnel, with the bi-annual trip down to Dorset on the horizon (December 6th). Initial turn out looks strong from the OCs but for anyone interested in lacing up, please email maxoakshott@gmail.com.

As we near the midpoint of the season, the club is thriving – attendance is at an all-time high, socials are in full swing, and, perhaps most importantly, the (newly promoted) side is well placed to go all the way.

Our thanks as always to the Development Office for their ongoing support."
