Once a Canfordian, Always a Canfordian
Welcome to all 2025 Leavers, the newest Old Canfordians. It was lovely to see the photos from your Leavers’ Ball with so many happy smiles. I’m sure there were also some tears as you said farewell to your friends, knowing that you would not be returning to Canford in September. We wish you every success as you move on to your next adventure, whether it be university, work, travel or taking some time out.
Keeping in touch and Networking
On leaving Canford, every pupil becomes a member of the Old Canfordian Society which is here to encourage OCs to stay in touch and support each other after they have left school. This support is available not only from your peers but from OCs of all generations, who can be contacted through Canford Global Connect. Many OCs have indicated on their profile that they can give guidance on specific career paths or are willing to be mentors. There are also OCs in several countries across the world who welcome OCs arriving in their country.
The OC Society Committee and the Development Office working together for OCs
We have a small Committee which works closely with the school Development Office to promote OC activities. The Development Office organises the annual London Drinks Party in May, Clink and Connect for young OCs in January and year group reunions throughout the year. They also support arrangements for OC sports events, manage Canford Global Connect, the OC Magazine, share news and are your first point of contact if you want to connect with other OCs.
The Development Office is always happy to hear from OCs and welcomes any offers of support and suggestions for OC activities. As a committee, we want to be representative of all generations of OCs but our youngest member left Canford in 2000. We are hoping to have at least one representative from each decade and would be delighted to hear from any OC interested in finding out how they can contribute to ensuring the OC Society continues to be relevant and supportive for all Old Canfordians.
The School's commitment to Old Canfordians
At this time, we would like to thank the School governors and Chris Wheeler, the new Headmaster, for reconfirming the School’s commitment to funding the activities of the Old Canfordian Society by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in September. There is no subscription for membership of the Society so the School funds the activities of the Society, including the annual magazine SOCIETY, which is now available here.
