It was my absolute pleasure to organise a Celebration of Life for Martin and Judith Marriott which took place on Sunday 1st February. OCs, former and current staff and family gathered to celebrate a much-loved Headmaster. I would like to add my thanks to Matt Keats S89, Emma Hattersley W78 and former staff member Geoffrey Boult who provided heartfelt eulogies, and Clare Ives M90 and Richard Baxter B62 who provided readings. I worked in close collaboration with former Canford chaplain Chris Jervis in the lead up to the service and his advice was invaluable. We were so sorry he was unable to join us due to ill health but his detailed preparation meant that our current Canford chaplain, Phil Jack was able to read his address verbatim. We were blessed to have Freya Svedberg (Fourth Form pupil) perform a violin piece with amazing talent and Will Ings (Director of Music) on the organ to accompany hymns and provide a rousing close to the service.
Afterwards guests enjoyed wonderful hospitality in true Marriott style in the form tea and Judith's favourite cakes. There was much reminiscing, laughter and conversation. I think Martin and Judith would have thoroughly enjoyed it.
The service was filmed for those who could not be present on the day. The link to the film can be found HERE.
