"The OCs have a new WORLD CHAMPION!

Simon de Halpert F64 is Royal Tennis World Champion for over 80s Singles and Doubles. Simon was also Runner up in the Over 75s Singles and Doubles.

Played in alternate years, the World Amateur Masters competition is open to all amateurs, worldwide and took place over 9 days this year in Melbourne.

Simon’s messages from the last two days of competition:

“Update on today's results.

Having won the over 80s final I then played the over 75s singles semi-final which I won 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in 2 hrs.

Then won the over 80s doubles final 6-5, 6-1.  A total of 4 hrs on court.

Tomorrow is the last day when I play the over 75s singles then doubles. Don't expect to win either. Looking forward to a good rest!!

“Lost both the over 75s doubles and singles finals. Doubles 3-6, 2-6 and singles 3-6, 1-6. The singles final was probably the best game I played.

In summary I entered 5 competitions, won 3, runner-up in 2.

Now looking forward to end of tournament dinner and tour of New Zealand.”
