On Sunday 22nd March, we were delighted to welcome Old Canfordians and members of the wider Canford community back for this year’s OC Hockey Day. Bathed in glorious sunshine, it was a fantastic afternoon, even if the conditions were a little on the warm side for hockey!
It was wonderful to see such a broad range of OCs taking part, from our most recent leavers in the Class of 2025 through to those who left in 1966. Some attendees are still regularly playing hockey, while for others it was their first time picking up a stick in many years, making the occasion all the more special.
After an enjoyable and competitive hour of play, the match concluded in a thrilling 4–4 draw. Players and supporters then came together to enjoy a lovely Canford lunch in the sunshine, providing the perfect opportunity to catch up and reconnect.
The day was a great success and, due to popular demand, we hope to establish OC Hockey Day as a regular fixture in the Old Canfordian calendar.
A huge thank you to OCs Rob Daubeney M84 and Simon Young M93 for their invaluable support in organising the event and encouraging others to take part, and to Greg Davis, Head of Hockey, for his help with umpiring on the day.
